Finally Got my kegs going

Post by SeanGodd » 5 years ago

Feel like I haven't post on here in years LOL.

Finally got my kegerator drilled out and taps in. Keged up an DIPA this morning. My question is when you are waiting on the keg to carb up is it okay to leave starsan in the bev line for the week or so it takes?
Cheers!!

That shouldn't be a problem Sean. Are you naturally carbing that it take so long to carb?

Sounds like you're carbing at serving pressure. Starsan in the line will not hurt anything.

The only thing I might be a bit concerned is that when I have left plastic hose lying in my of gallon bucket of Star San for days, it seems to develop a sort of slimy coating.

I'm sure not harmful, and hopefully washed clear with the first pint if it were in beer lines.

I also just got my homemade kegerator going this weekend. Sooooooo much better then bottling lol. Got a keg chilling/carbing in there. Also going with the set it and forget it method as I have some bottle beer to drink in mean time, I have mine set at 12psi.
