Video of me brewing 10 gal batch of all grain Dunkelweizen

Post #1 by masamunexc » 1 year ago

Hi all, thought I'd share my first youtube video here, I'm making a 10 gal batch of Dunkelweizen, its presently the 2nd week in the primary ferm, going to transfer into the kegs in a couple more weeks I think. This is also the first brew day with my new 15 gal kettle and banjo kab6 burner, before that I was using the old keggle for strike water, sparging and as a BK. This is so much nicer. Also my first time fly sparging which worked quite well, 86% efficiency means this brew its going to be a potent one! Cheers!

Thanks for the video Matt. I noticed you do a wet malt grind with your grain mill. Do you have to take it apart to clean it? I have never done that yet.

That was actually the first time I have tried wet conditioning, I didn't want to get the mill gummy or wet so I only used about 100ml or so and it didnt cause any mess , its just barely damp, certainly not wet. The mill wasn't a mess at all though, I just do the standard wipe off and blow out afterwards. The grain was quite fluffy compared to normal, I will continue to do it in the future as I think it allows you to set a smaller gap without shredding the husks too much.

Great video!
We've been documenting our homebrew journey with Youtube and Facebook videos as well - though sometimes brewing / drinking / filming don't always go together...
