I've decided to put together a list of common starsan mix quantities for quick reference.
This is as much a quick reference for me as anyone else haha... Saves me having to do the math each time.
Per the instructions on the bottle, we use 1oz starsan per 5 gallons of water.
So here we go with some examples of how much starsan to use in different volumes of water:
5 gallons water / 1oz or 30mL starsan
1 gallon water / 1/5 oz or 6mL starsan
3.785 liters water / 6mL of starsan (same as a gallon)
1 liter (1L) water / 1.6mL starsan
750 mL (0.75L) / 1.2mL starsan
500 mL (0.5L) water / 0.8mL starsan
250 mL (0.25L) water / 0.4mL starsan
1 cup water (236mL) water / 0.38mL starsan
1/2 cup (118mL) water / 0.19mL starsan
The best way (or easiest way) to measure tiny volumes is to get a syringe at the pharmacy. They're cheap and reusable.
If you're using a syringe then it might be measured in cc's. But fear not, since 1 cc (cm3), cubic centimeter is equal to 1mL (0.001L).
I usually round up to err on the side of caution.
All the best! (And feel free to double-check my math!)
