We have had 88cm in the last 2 weeks, and temps at night in the -30s with the windchill. Won't be any growing action going on here for quite sometime!
That is the reason we moved here. Instead of the 8 months of winter in Edmonton, we seem to get more like 8 weeks.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Doesn't bother me any, I did 5yrs in Northern Canada in various communities from norther Quebec to Manitoba, this is nothing.

Besides...I just go fire up the blower when it's all over and all is good then.

I was checking the weather network and saw the miserable conditions down east. :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: Looking forward to the temps in the low teens next week here.

Hi guys ! For those of you sharing / splitting plants rhizomes... you don't have to wait 3-4 years to get rhizomes in order to share. Did some of you tried to root bine cuttings ?

I am doing somthing similar to this root cuttings for mine, except that I root them in water instead of immediately putting them in soil.

That is a good way to "recycle" the trimming done on plants.

Hops is really an hardy weed... don't be afraid, beat them ! :)

Excellent technique darkcoder, looks a lot easier than the labor to dig rhizomes.

Guess what... I've done a little careful digging today and about an inch under the mulch I found the first shoots! Plus I spotted a herd of deer in the front yard this weekend - I might have to put up a fence around the hops...
