And i broke the news to the wife after promising not to buy one. I worked some overtime so it is a treat to me. She is mad. :facepalm:

Got mine yesterday. Ran some oxiclean through it and will test it today to make sure the elements work. I don't have a hop spider, but I do have a hop sock for dry hopping. I guess it is better than nothing. Some users use a biab bag along with hop spiders to keep the pump from clogging. Will see on brew day this Friday.

Brew day went well. I didn't save any time compared to my old system though. No jacket on the unit and the boil was okay, not aggressive but good enough. Wort was clear until I was near the end and I got some trub/hop in my carboy. I still had the hop sock in but may remove it next time when I whirlpool after cooling. All in all, a nice compact unit which I will enjoy using.

Using a milk crate helps with ventilation.

Good to know. Got it all cleaned up and ready to go, but my back went and said no f'n way today, so it is going to have to wait a week.

Added mash water for my 2nd brew and the temp probe is defective. Error - E2. Now that did not take long. :(

That is not a good sign. I think obk is covering warranty for them for a year, are they not?
