New Toy
I've been quite busy at work the past few years, that's good and bad. On one hand I haven't had a lot of time to brew, the other, I've got some extra money for gear.
My plastic fermenters were looking quite tired, it was time for an upgrade. I went with a Spike Brewing CF15 and christened with an Irish Red Ale. My plastic fermenter days are done. They served me well over the years but this beast will be so much nicer to work with.

Re: New Toy
Any updates regarding the use of the new fermenter?
I have been looking at them online. They do seem pretty well built.

Re: New Toy
I've ran a couple batches through and it works great. It's a robust build and easy to clean, I ordered the CIP spray ball with it. Spike is now available in Canada which is nice. I had to have mine shipped to the border and go pick it up. No comment on the cooling coil, I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it will work fine.

Re: New Toy
What kind of pump do you plan on using with the cip ball? Have read that chuggers cant quite push enough for the bigger balls.

Re: New Toy
I ran it with a chugger pump and it worked alright. That's what Spike said they designed it to run with. I've got a few other pumps kicking around my shop that I'm going to mess around with. I wonder if a 2" Honda pump would be overkill.

Might have to build a minimum flow line with that pump!OldNelly wrote:. I wonder if a 2" Honda pump would be overkill.
