Silicone o-rings, washers and nuts - Where to buy them ?

Post by fdoyon » 5 years ago

Good morning everyone !

I'm currently brewing 5 gal batches with two 1500w heatsticks. I want to upgrade my setup to a HERMS system similar to http://theelectricbrewery.com. I already bought two 1500w ultra low watt density elements (I'm stuck with 120v :( ) and I need to attach them to my brand new Blichmann pot. I'm pretty sure I can find a few of the required items around here (Quebec City area) but none of the shops I've visited so far carry the silicone rings, washers and nuts I need.
Stainless steel washer/shim (0.075" thick, 1-1/2" ID, 2-1/4" OD)
Standard straight cord/wire grip, 3/4" NPT (For cord diameter .50" to 0.63", aluminum, -30F to +225F)
Stainless steel locknut 1" NPS
I also have a hard time finding a weatherproof 2-gang outlet box (metal, not plastic).

Does anyone know a Canadian online store where I could buy these things ?

Cheers !

I am almost finished building that exact setup, and had a hard time finding them as well- i had to click on Kal's links and get them from ebay or amazon. Also you can get your gang boxes at home depot along with the cord grips.

A fastener store will carry the nuts and bolts in stainless that you need.
Here in London we have FACA fasteners, or Brafasco
how about these guys http://www.fastenal.com/web/home.ex in your area.
275 Avenue Saint-Sacrement #120 Quebec City (418) 688-8483

They may have the silicone o rings as well

Ok so I found the nuts and silicone o-rings at ontariobeerkegs.com. I managed to buy almost everything I needed at Home Depot but I still can't find these :

Stainless steel washer/shim (0.075" thick, 1-1/2" ID, 2-1/4" OD)
Standard straight cord/wire grip, 3/4" NPT (For cord diameter .50" to 0.63", aluminum, -30F to +225F)
Food grade silicone adhesive/sealant (-75F to +400F, Food grade: Meets MIL-A-46106B, Group I, Type I, FDA compliant, USDA approved, NSF 51 certified)

Any ideas ?

They are from the US which makes me think shipping would be unreasonable for a 3$ part :(

If they ship USPS the rate is usually pretty cheap. Bonus is you usually don't have to pay duty because of the low value.
