Trouble Removing Element

Post #1 by Reignman » 1 week ago

I am currently using a 1500 watt HD water heating element in my mash tun and bought a 4500 low watt density element to replace it. The coupling is welded in and I can't get the old one off. It has been there for 10 years. I don't want to break the coupling my using a johnson bar or something like that. Any suggestions?

If you have access to an acetylene torch, just heat the female part of the thread to red hot and unscrew it immediately, it will come off. Propane will not get hot enough.
