Crazy Shipping Quote

Post by Reignman » 3 years ago

My lhbs didn't have any US-05 or anything close so I went online to buy some. I went to the closest shop to me to order a few packs. Brewers Pantry in Bomanville to Peterborough isn't that far. $18.13 shipping. Yea right. Same order from OBK way down north of London was $6.80 shipping. You know where I shopped.

I buy it there and have run into that problem. With dry yeast having such a long shelf life I try to keep a good supply in the fridge, but it doesn't always work out.

I have gone in a couple of times in the last month and he said he will order more. None yet though. I usually brew Pilsners and use WLP833, but with cooler weather I want to brew some IPA'S, Porters and Brown ales and toss them on my brew bench. I like US-05 for those beers and am happy with the results.

Cripes, even 4-5 packs in a bubble envelope would only be $3 or so to ship.

I would think if I ran a Homebrew supply shop, that US-05 would be one of those items you make sure you are never out of stock on. As it is I run a hobby shop (plastic models, model trains, rockets, etc), and there are certain things (like flat black paint) that I know to order enough of, that I would never be out of stock of it....ever. Would think that US-05 would fall into that category for a home brew supply shop.

They are a BOP shop and supplies are not on the top of their list.
