Who Uses Apps and Which is the Best One

Post #1 by Murf Dawg 10 » 4 months ago

Hi Folks,

I am new to homebrewing, have completed 6 extract batches and I am now going to plunge into All grain brews.

In my all my reading i have been doing there seems to be many different Apps to use, each of them are have their pros and cons and most have costs associated.

Here are a couple i have read about:
* Brewsmith $10.99
* Brewpal $2.79

Has anyone used these or any others you would recommend.

Thanks for any feedback!
Jeff

I use the beersmith computer program; it is about as close to a standard software package as you will find, is easy to use, and works with brewing styles ranging from extract, to mini-mash, to all-grain, to commercial. There is a phone-app version of it; I've not used it, but it is supposed to have similar features as the desktop version.

I use the beersmith app and am very satisfied with its performance. Has all the tools you need to brew. The only con is no water chemistry functionality.

I prefer Brewers Friend personally as the cloud functionality is way better than Beersmith, plus it has a much easier learning curve. Beersmith is good though and I own it. I even paid for Beersmith 3 mostly to support them.

The iOS app for Brewers Friend isn't great but it's not bad.
