Escarpment Kolsch Yeast

Post #1 by Reignman » 4 months ago

Has anyone used their Kolsch Yeast? I haven't used any Escarpment yeast yet, but am thinking on giving the Kolsch a try.

I e-mailed them and asked if fermenting at 16 C instead of 18 C and they said 18 C is recommended. I think anywhere around 16 C to 18 C would be fine if you pitch a good starter.

Brewing a Kolsch this weekend with this yeast. The starter foamed up and almost out of my 5 L flask.

Temp is around 27 C where my stir plate is. No A/C in yet. I used a tiny drop of no foam to keep it down.

Perfect belgian temps! You have a fermenation chamber dont you? We usually dont have too many days over 27 here, but we have had 3 over 30 in the last week.
