Cooling wort with ice

Post by Werwer2018 »

I just saw a video online and they used ICE to cool the wort quickly after it was boiled. Any thoughts on that.

So long as you calculate the addition of the extra water into your recipe and make sure that your ice is made from reasonably good water (not chlorinated tap water) I don't see anything wrong with the idea.

Contamination can be an issue, as it is nearly impossible to make sanitary ice. I've tried this in the past - unsuccessfully, due to infection issues - and would strongly recommend you not do it.
