Primary fermentation without an airlock?

Post #1 by twistandstout » 1 month ago

Now that I've acquired a wine fridge, I'll be able to put my fermentation bucket in there to ferment at a cooler temp for those initial few days. However, I don't think the bucket would fit with an airlock. I was thinking of loosely fitting the cover on the bucket and letting it get through those initial first days of vigorous fermentation like that, and then removing the bucket from the fridge and placing it in an area of my house that is 18c ambient. At this point, I would fit it with an airlock.

Thoughts?

If you drill a hole in your lid for a bung, will it fit with a blow off hose. I use an elbow with my blow off hose.
