Upgrades and such!

Post by XXXXX »

Hey Folks,

A couple changes around here, some more noticeable than others:

1) The forum has been updated and revamped, which includes a much more mobile-friendly experience.
2) All browsing is now encrypted (that's the green lock you should now all see in your browser)
3) The server itself is new; much faster hardware
4) The site is now actually hosted in Canada (Montreal), whereas before it was hosted in Chicago.

There are some new features with the upgraded forum that you'll come across. It's all still very familiar, but slightly different than before.

Hope it's all to your liking :)

It's different and weird... I don't know if I like it, but I guess I'll get used to it.

I know... I think I feel the same way.

The problem is the software that was running the old version of the forum was way out of date and there were no more security updates available for it. I couldn't rightfully continue to use it.

What do you dislike most about it? In the end it's very customizable and maybe I can do something about it.

Mostly just the fact that it's different from how it looked yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of the colour scheme, but everything else is fine. I just don't like when things that I'm used to get changed. :(

OK! That's good feedback! Any recommendations on colors that are inline with homebrewing?

Would bringing back the beer icons like we had before make it better?

My goal was to keep the colour scheme as close to what it was, while still refreshing it, but I'm definitely not a graphic designer!

Anyone with ideas is welcome to share them!

Adam

Yes, I'd like to see the beer icons come back... That would make me feel much more at home when I log in.

Looks good. Big surprise when I logged in though. Beer icons would be great!

I don't see any green lock icons, just the blank white page where it should be.

What kind of sensitive data is on these forums that would require encryption? I don't use the same password for this site as others, so I don't know if encryption is necessary for me.
I've never understood the policy against "necro threads" on almost every forum. Why tell us to use the search function for a particular topic, then complain when an older thread has a new post in it?
