Been there.. really nice country on the west coast. I have family in Lark Hr. and down Raleigh way.

Never did a Mr. Beer kit and have heard not so good stories about them. If they don't work out like you had hoped.. try a kit and ferment in a bucket or carboy. You'll get lots of help here if you ask.

Good luck with the brewing, anytime I use extracts I boil for 60min still and have great beer to drink
Beer has food value, food has no beer value...
